Editing and Design Services
Everyone -- no matter what field they work in -- needs an editor.
Contrary to popular belief, editors aren't out there to undermine you
or your work. Editors are there to make sure that whatever written
product you produce meets high standards of professionalism, both
gramatically and aesthetically.
Most people can tell if a magazine page, a brochure, an advertisement
or business card is aesthetically pleasing -- if it's easy to read and
understand, if it's eye-catching, and if it adequately fulfills the
purpose for which it was created. But if these things aren't
aesthetically pleasing, it's often hard to explain why and even harder
to fix. A good editor can look at a design and collaborate with the creator to create something visually appealing.
The same rules apply to grammar. Most people can tell when writing is
grammatically incorrect. Unfortunately, fewer and fewer people in the
professional world seem to pay attention to grammar. Just look at any
sign advertising "Condo's For Sale" -- the apostrophe isn't necessary!
A good editor can proofread professional materials to ensure that there
are no grammatical errors or mistakes that might confuse an intended
audience or make a business appear less professional.
With these things in mind, the following are services available through this site:
Proofreading:
• Offered for advertising copy, press releases, brochures or other written material intended for the public.
• Our editors will examine material for grammatical errors. We will
provide you with a memorandum detailing any errors found and
how to correct them.
• Material can be submitted via e-mail to proofreading@themodernpragmatist.com. Please send .pdf or plain text files if possible.
• Please allow 48 hours for proofreading and return of material. Please
email info@themodernpragmatist.com if you have more than 4 pages of
material, as proofreading may take longer.

Editing:

• Our editors will examine designed documents for clarity of
information, design organization, eye appeal and readability. We will
provide you with a memorandum detailing the areas that we think could
be improved and how these updated design elements contribute to your
document's aesthetic appeal and ease of use.
• Material can be submitted via e-mail to
editing@themodernpragmatist.com. Please send .pdf files. For on-site
document editing, or to send documents via snail-mail, please email
info@themodernpragmatist.com.
• Please allow 48 hours for editing and return of documents. For more
than two documents, email info@themodernpragmatist.com for estimated
turnaround time.

Typographical and Design Services: •
Our designers can create business card designs or promotional brochures
and fliers, as well as formatting page design for newsletters.
• Our designers will work with you to determine what information and
look you want to present to your customers. We will create several
different designs for you to approve prior to producing the finished
product.
• You will receive a finalized document in .pdf file via email. We are
also happy to snail-mail the finished document or arrange alternative
